This past weekend, I went back in time, back to the Civil War. It was Genesee Country Museum's annual Civil War reenactment, and it was incredible! It was my first big experience as a reenactor; I even camped out on Saturday night! It was so much fun to spend two whole days as a lady from the 1860s, wearing hoop skirts and fancy dresses. Not only that, but I got to spend the time with good friends.
This was my tent....
Here are pictures of the ball on Saturday night; there were SO many people!!!
Finally, pictures from the battles. I mostly have pictures of the Confederates; I went with the 21st Georgia unit, and a friend was fighting in the 34th North Carolina unit, so I was Southerner for the weekend!
Yes, there were some very epic "deaths"! These men do an incredible job of reenacting the battles; it really makes you appreciate what truly happened. And I got a good glimpse at what the women went through as fathers, sons, brothers, husbands went off to war, and all a lady could do was sit and wonder and worry, and hope that her soldier returned.
As a whole, the weekend was one big learning experience. Almost everything I did was a "first". But it was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again!

This looks like such an interesting experience! The dance pictures are just beautiful.
What a blessing you had good weather that weekend! We have never been to one of the reenactments but I have found the idea interesting to say the least. It is nice to see how much you enjoy the history that is so well displayed at the museum. :) It is really neat!
