17 Kids!

Well, I'm back from the farm. I got home on Thursday. It is very nice to be home again, with my family and friends, but to say that I simply miss the Phillips and the goats is a gross understatement. I had so much fun, and I learned tons! I even miss the barn chores! Here are pictures of the goats. This one is of Sarah and her baby girl and boys.
This is of one of the baby dairy goats.

This Dottie and her little girl. Dottie is not very nice.

These are two of the adult dairy goats.

This is Crystal's baby girl.

This is Clara's baby girl.
These are three of the baby dairy goats.

I had some interesting experiences. Eight goats had their babies while I was there. We ended up with 17 kids. Barn was filling up quickly. Right when we got to their house on Friday, one of the goats (Clara) was in labor. She was having problems, very serious problems, so we put the goat in the back of their car, drove really fast 20 minutes away to the vet. So in the store-room/office of the vet clinic, two vets struggled for about 30 or 40 minutes trying to get the babies out. Finally, after much struggle, one little girl was born. Then a little boy was born, but sadly, he had already died. That was worst-case, right off the bat for me. I will certaintly never forget it! One of my new favorite sounds is newborn baby goats bleating, because it means they are alive! Well, thats all!

One Last Post In Rochester

Well, I am leaving in about 20 minutes for a week of adventure! First, I am going to Birdsong Nature Trails to feed chickadees; not so adventurous...I've done it many times before. But afterwards, and I going to a friend's house in the middle of nowhere to live on their farm and learn how to kid goats. Yup, thats right, I'm going to be a farmer. I'm excited, and nervous, too. I just wanted to post two more drawings quickly before I leave. The first one is of Kerrian and Neffaru's friend, a fairy, named Kiyomi (Key - yo - me). She looks like she is the same size as everybody else (in fact, I drew here at the same size), but she isn't. Think about a large, maybe 5 inch leaf, and that will give you her proportions. She is very mischievous, and she too like the dragon, only speaks Dutch.

This next one is of Kerrian and Neffaru's friend Eidel, a prim and proper girl. She is very shy and timid, and her name means "delecate", which describes her perfectly.

Well, I've got to run!

Number Twelve Done!!!

Today, since I had the whole afternoon free, I finished Cati's quilt! I really like it; I think it looks very nice. But then I was thinking about how many quilts I have made since I started in August 2007, and I counted 12, including this one!

I also want to say that I had a lot of fun watching the Super Bowl! Last year I went to a youth group party, and it was tons of fun, but since we weren't really doing anything this year, I didn't think it would be very exciting. But it actually was! I watched the whole game, I am proud to say, and I basically understood what was going on! But, while I was sitting there, I decided to do some drawing. So here is what I drew. His name is Seshat, and he is Neffaru and Kerrian's "pet" dragon. He looks kind of evil, but he's really not. I don't know if you can tell, but he is supposed to be bowing....as much as I dragon can. And I know this may be weird, but the only language he speaks is Dutch.

So, there you have it, folks!
